Enhancing connectivity, expanding tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Azerbaijan
On the afternoon of August 28, Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, had a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Vietnam, Shovgi Mehdizada, regarding the direction of tourism development cooperation in the coming time.
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, Ambassador Shovgi Mehdizada extended his congratulations to the Party, State, and people of Vietnam, while affirming that the friendly cooperative relationship between the two countries, established in 1959, has continuously developed in many areas, including tourism. During the state visit of General Secretary To Lam to Azerbaijan in May 2025, the Vietnam – Azerbaijan relations were upgraded to Strategic Partnership, with many important cooperation documents being signed, in which tourism was identified as one of the priority areas.
The ambassador emphasized that through cultural and tourism exchange activities, the image of Vietnam is increasingly embraced by a large number of people in Azerbaijan, especially the youth. Every year, Azerbaijan organizes the “Vietnam Days” program with the participation of many Vietnamese artists, scientists, and businesses, thereby contributing to the promotion of culture, cuisine, music, and enhancing people-to-people exchanges. Ambassador Shovgi Mehdizada appreciated the coordination and support from Vietnam and expressed the desire for both sides to continue to strengthen cooperation, especially in exchanging delegations and expanding tourism promotion activities.
For tourism, the demand for customer exchange between the two countries is currently very high, and Vietnam’s tourism products are suitable for the Azerbaijan market. However, the main difficulty is the lack of direct flights and limited information sources. Therefore, Azerbaijan’s participation in the ITE HCMC 2025 fair with its own booth is regarded as an important starting point to connect the market and promote cooperation.
