Son Doong Cave – the largest cave in the world, was recently featured on the famous television program “60 Minutes” on CBS (USA). The report officially aired at 7 PM Eastern Time on Sunday, March 29 (which is around 7 AM on March 30 Vietnam Time).

According to CBS, this is one of the most impressive reports ever broadcast on this television channel. The CBS 60 Minutes (USA) film crew shot the film from January 14 to 17, 2026, organized in coordination with Oxalis Adventure, with the participation of 9 members including producer Nicole Young, Jonathan Partridge, host Scott Cameron Pelley, and the professional CBS camera and lighting team along with famous photographer Ryan Deboodt.

In 60 minutes, through the lens of CBS News and the narration of British cave explorer Peter MacNab, the audience is taken on a journey to explore every corner of Son Đoong. The cave appears magnificent and pristine, with rays of sunlight shining down from ceilings hundreds of meters high, groundwater flowing through the light like sudden showers, creating echoes throughout the space. This experience is described as a well-deserved reward for many days of challenging journey.

To reach the cave, the expedition team had to walk for a full day and a half. The group of 53 people carried camping, communication, and protective equipment, crossing about 20 rivers flowing through the limestone terrain – a key factor that formed this natural wonder.

The team leader is Howard Limbert, a cave explorer with over 30 years of experience in Vietnam and has discovered more than 500 caves. He, along with Peter MacNab, shares that the exploration journey is always filled with a sense of mystery, as each step can open up spaces that have never been known before.

The entire cave journey lasts about 3 days and 2 nights, with a total length of nearly 9 km. Son Doong has cavern vaults higher than 200 meters and wider than 150 meters — big enough to contain the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. Two large sinkholes in the cave allow light and natural ecosystems to develop, creating a world almost completely separated from the outside.

With the world-leading television program “60 Minutes” by CBS (USA) choosing to feature Son Doong, it is a rare opportunity for the story of Son Doong to be told comprehensively, through the lens of science, history, and people to millions of viewers around the world.
